The CSS Arkansas was a notable example of the South's attempt to build an ironclad vessel that could effectively patrol the Mississippi River against Union gunboats. Armored with railroad iron collected from across the state of Mississippi, this flat-bottomed boat was formidable with its eight large guns and courageous crew.This thoroughly researched 1/96 scale kit utilizes the latest computer and laser technology to simulate incredible details such as the grooves in the railroad iron, the rivets used to build the vessel, the three different cannons and the custom made flag. USS Weehawken Kit
The Weehawken was one of a class of ten single-turreted monitors that were built directly after the great success of the Monitor. Those "Passaic Class" monitors were larger than the first Monitor (200 feet long and 45 feet broad) and differed from her in that they were armed with heavier guns and the pilothouse was built above the top of the.This incredibly detailed, historically correct 1/96th scale kit is made of resin and cast white metal/pewter parts and includes stanchions, white metal flagpoles, turret stanchions, sheaves, cleats, warping chocks, two Steingraeber lifeboats and a turret canopy. Also includes a full-color booklet complete with history, instructions, historical blueprints, photographs and wood etchings to aid you in the kit's construction and to tell the fantastic story of the Weehawken's service.
